Is it typical for Canada? Gen Xers in my family are generally not casually racist. Boomers? Yeah, there's some problematic (poop) here and there but they're mostly harmless.

Sometimes I think we need to afford older generations a bit of slack. If you compare where they are now to where they were 40 years ago, usually it's night and day.
